Consumable charging policy
Little Bears Childrens Day Nursery provide quality childcare to children aged between 0-5 years. We ensure transparency for parents/carers and charge a consumable fee to support the sustainability and quality of the services we provide.
Consumables refer to items and resources that are regularly used as part of delivering high quality early years provision. These items are not covered by Government funded childcare hours.
Consumables may include, but are not limited to
- Snacks, drinks and cooking ingredients for meals
- Wet wipes, tissues and other hygiene items
- Sun cream (unless a parent chooses to provide their own)
- Replenishable items used frequently throughout the nursery session
The cost of the consumable items continues to rise, therefore this charge helps the nursery to
- Maintain high quality resources and learning experiences
- Provide a consistent offer to all children
- Ensure that all Government funded places remain sustainable without compromising the provision
Consumable charges do not affect a child’s access to their funded hours.
The consumable charge may be applied as a fixed session fee or a monthly fee which is clearly stated on the fee sheet.
Parent/carers will be informed in writing of any changes to the fee at least 4 weeks in advance.
Parents/carers may choose to opt out of the consumables charge. If opting out, you will be asked to provide equivalent items from home when required such as
- Snacks and packed lunch for meals, including Breakfast, lunch and tea if applicable
- Sun cream
- Nappy sacks
If required items are not provided, the nursery reserves the right to charge for the items used.
Consumables are optional charges and are not a condition of accessing Government funded places. The nursery does not charge for any learning or education delivered during funded hours. Charges apply to items or services outside of the Government funding in line with the Statutory guidance.
If you wish to opt out of the consumables charge, parents/carers will give 4 weeks notice to the nursery
